Scene 15 of 130 · ≈ 1 min on screen · Act one
Reunited three years after a car crash scattered them into hollow versions of success, four friends stumble into a bachelor-party trip to Goa where making one last short film forces them to confront the heartbreak, cowardice, and unfinished business each of them has been outrunning.
The four friends bicker in a car about whether to make crime thrillers or comedies for views — the fight over what kind of story to tell, which the rest of the film answers.
Karthik's boss tells him "every dog has its day" and later calls him a "great dane" — the film's real theme, that Karthik is chasing someone else's idea of a good dog, is stated here and not understood until the very end.
Karthik's father presses him about the promotion his mother has been praying for.
Karthik claims the engagement is itself the promotion he's been promising his parents.
Karthik's parents needle him about the ring and his old friends before hanging up.
This scene
KARTHIK puts the phone down and sits up. He looks at the awards and achievements he’s displayed beside his bed.
He scans each one of them. Behind the awards, in a corner is a photograph.
It’s a photograph of a younger KARTHIK with a few friends.
He takes a good look at it and smiles to himself.
