Obsession · written by Curry Barker · 2026
Scene 26 of 61 · ≈ 1 min on screen · Act two
Bear wishes the woman he loves would love him back. The wish comes true — and her devotion becomes a violence neither of them can stop.
Bear in his comfort zone of quiet, unspoken longing for Nicky, grieving his cat and coached by Ian to stay silent rather than confess.
Bear needs Nicky to love him back, sharpened by trivia night's proximity to her and Ian, and the purchase of the willow as an almost-joke wish object.
Bear breaks the willow and makes the wish, crossing from wanting to actively, magically pursuing Nicky's love.
Ian and Sarah's parallel concern for Bear — voiced first through Ian's suspicion at work — becomes the relationship thread that eventually exposes and pays for the wish.
Bear begs off driving Nicky home, claiming errands, and lets Ian take her instead, leaving her visibly hurt.
Alone at home, Bear tries calling Nicky when a knock interrupts him.
Nicky arrives dressed up, admits she was on MDMA the night before, then flatly declares she knows Bear likes her and asks if it would freak him out if she liked him back.

THE MUSIC CONTINUES WITHIN THE FOLLOWING MONTAGE-ESC SCENES.
Nicky and Bear are together on the bed, the room bathed in warm colors and shadows. Nicky crawls above Bear, and they begin to kiss slowly, with intensity.
Suddenly, a stark realization FLICKERS IN NICKY'S EYES, a silent scream of awareness. She snaps upright, as if jolted by an unseen force.
NICKY
Bear?! What's going on?!
Bear scrambles to his elbows pulling away.
BEAR
What?!
Nicky snaps back, her fear morphs into a smile.
NICKY
Nothing.
Bear leans back, alarmed and bewildered, unwilling to go through this again.
Nicky tenderly draws him back, guiding his hand to caress her face, then down her chest to between her legs. She moans, and they kiss, reigniting their passion as they hurriedly shed their clothes.
