Tenet · written by Christopher Nolan · 2020
Scene 206 of 275 · ≈ 1 min on screen · Act two
An unnamed intelligence operative, recruited into a shadow war fought through time-inverted weapons and objects, teams with an enigmatic ally to stop a dying Russian oligarch from using technology gifted by a dying future to erase the present.
The Protagonist in his zone of comfort — a skilled, anonymous field operative, competent and confident inside the Kiev operation.
Broken by torture and 'killed,' he needs a new purpose; Fay offers one that transcends the nation-state loyalties that just got his team killed.
He enters the wholly unfamiliar situation of Tenet — the wind turbine, the password test, and Barbara's proof that time itself can run backward.
Mumbai, London, Oslo, and Amalfi — he adapts to the world of inverted physics and Sator's inner circle, paying costs (Kat's trust, his own safety) to get close to the target.
The Tallinn ambush succeeds — he gets what the mission wanted, extracting the plutonium '241' from the armored convoy.
He pays a heavy price for it — Kat is shot, the material is lost to Sator anyway, and he is left not knowing whether any of it mattered.
Priya's full reveal at the Oslo War Memorial — the algorithm was deliberately split and hidden, and Sator's 'theft' was meant to happen — reframes defeat as the synthesis insight that shapes the endgame.
Kat learns Sator's fitness tracker is a dead man's switch and that he is dying and choosing the moment of apocalypse — the full shape of the endgame locks in, forcing the two-front assault.
Chinooks fly low, long-lining shipping containers toward Stalsk-12.
Soldiers watch the frozen landscape pass beneath them.
The Protagonist arrives at the forward staging camp.

Soldiers in folding chairs facing a screen. The Protagonist looks around – still no Neil. Ives steps up, signals for the projector: a devastated CITY, grey CONCRETE and ABANDONED industry amongst terraced strip mines...
IVES
Stalsk-12. Hidden from the world. A
city where anything can happen, and
today, gentlemen, for ten minutes,
it most assuredly does.
Ives switches to a GRAPHIC: a childishly simple diagram of a LANDING AREA, BUILDINGS, then an UNDERGROUND CAVERN...
IVES (CONT'D)
You were divided into two teams for
a temporal pincer movement. We
are Red team, moving forwards. Our
friends out there –
(gestures at containers)
– Blue team, led by Commander
Wheeler, are inverted. One hour
from now, they had this briefing...
INSERT CUT: Neil, in RESPIRATOR, in the front row of Commander Wheeler’s briefing of BLUE TEAM. All are in respirators...

Then were dropped on the ridge
above the hypocentre as close in
time to the detonation as possible.
Their objectives were clearance and
clarification. This briefing has
the benefit of their experience –
and yes, some of you specialists
are on both teams.
The Protagonist overhears –
RED SOLDIER 1
Why don’t they let us see them?
RED SOLDIER 2
Maybe we won’t like what happened.
