56INT. HALLWAY, 145 PICCADILLY - CONTINUOUS

Lionel is shown to a chair in the hall to wait. Footsteps echo.

Bertie’s Equerry, dressed in military uniform, comes in. He is scrupulously polite.

EQUERRY

I’m very sorry, Mr Logue, the Duke

is terrible busy.

LIONEL

I’m happy to wait. Or I could come

back later.

EQUERRY

As I said, the Duke is busy.

The steward opens the door. Both wait.

Lionel reluctantly withdraws.
