Scene 48 of 189 · ≈ 1 min on screen
Mark Zuckerberg wants status and belonging Harvard's final clubs won't give him, so he builds a website that gives the world both — and loses his best friend and co-founder to the company he built to prove he mattered.
Mark at the campus bar: brilliant, status-obsessed, unable to read the room he's sitting in.
Eduardo waits in the corridor and learns Mark got six months' academic probation.
Mark blames himself for the farm-animals blog post and Eduardo needles him about alienating every girl on campus.
In his brutal Operating Systems class, Mark is publicly shamed by a note calling him a dick, but nails the professor's pop quiz answer on his way out.
This scene
As MARK comes out and heads onto the quad--
CAMERON (OS)
(calling)
Mark?
CAMERON and TYLER have been waiting by the entrance.
CAMERON (CONT’D)
Are you Mark Zuckerberg?
MARK
Yeah.
CAMERON
Cameron Winklevoss.
MARK
Hi.
TYLER
Tyler Winklevoss.
MARK
(pause)
You guys related?
CAMERON
That’s good.
TYLER
That’s funny.
CAMERON
We’ve never heard that before.
MARK
What can I do for you? Did I insult your
girlfriends?
CAMERON
No, you didn’t insult our girl--
(to TYLER)
Actually, I don’t know.
TYLER
(to CAMERON)
We never asked.
CAMERON
We should do that. No, we have an idea we
want to talk to you about. Do you have a
minute?
MARK
(pause)
You guys look like you spend some time at
the gym.
CAMERON
We have to.
MARK
Why?
TYLER
We row crew.
MARK
(pause--then smiles a little)
Yeah, I’ve got a minute.
CAMERON
Great.
