Obsession · written by Curry Barker · 2026
Scene 31 of 61 · ≈ 1 min on screen · Act two
Bear wishes the woman he loves would love him back. The wish comes true — and her devotion becomes a violence neither of them can stop.
Bear in his comfort zone of quiet, unspoken longing for Nicky, grieving his cat and coached by Ian to stay silent rather than confess.
Bear needs Nicky to love him back, sharpened by trivia night's proximity to her and Ian, and the purchase of the willow as an almost-joke wish object.
Bear breaks the willow and makes the wish, crossing from wanting to actively, magically pursuing Nicky's love.
Bear adapts to Nicky's escalating strangeness, paying the cost of denial and rationalization as the relationship forms under increasingly disturbing terms.
Montage: the new couple makes out in the break room while Ian looks on strangely and Sarah's hurt is visible.
Montage: Nicky and Bear look through yearbook photos on her bed, reminiscing about when they met.
Over dinner, Nicky flirts and asks about Bear's real dreams, but when he presses her about her father's cancer she panics and unravels, insisting it doesn't matter to him.
This scene
Nicky slams Bear against the wall, kissing fiercely. They move to the bed where Bear playfully pushes her down. Clothes shed, Bear kisses her neck.
Mid-moan, Nicky locks eyes with Bear, her expression shifting to SHEER PANIC. With a frantic shove, she pushes him away and lets out a BLOOD-CURDLING SCREAM, her body trembling.
NICKY
Bear, what the FUCK!
Bear remains unfazed, his eerie calm demeanor chilling. Within moments, she's back, kissing his stomach. The disturbance registers as nothing more than a fleeting inconvenience to him.
NICKY (CONT'D)
Sorry, baby.
BEAR
It's okay, baby.
They finish, and Bear rolls over to the side.
NICKY
That was amazing, baby.
Bear smiles.
BEAR
Yeah... Yeah.
Bear's smile fades, a subtle acknowledgment of what he never thought he was.
