A screenwriting Studio that stays with your story

Screenplay.Company is being built to help you discover a story, shape it into a film and write a screenplay you choose to share. Its creative partner remembers your choices and why you made them. The desktop Studio is coming soon for Mac and Windows.

Begin with what you have

A person who refuses to leave. A relationship you cannot stop thinking about. An image, a situation, a scrap of dialogue. You do not need a finished premise to begin developing a screenplay.

Story Space is where that material belongs. Its purpose is to preserve your original words and connect the people, places, possibilities, choices and open questions that emerge. A possibility should remain a possibility until you choose it. You should be able to return after time away and continue without explaining the story again.

Shape the film, then work on the scene

Outline is the place to develop and arrange beats, scenes and sequences. The question is more than what happens next: what changes, what caused it, and what does the audience now expect?

Scenes gives each moment room to develop. Work out its purpose, the characters’ intentions and how the moment will play before approving a direction for the writing. Script brings the film together on the page. The outline supplies its order, so the structure and the assembled pages remain connected.

Keep the reasons, not only the result

An outline card may say that a daughter stays at a station. The reason she stays may be the most important thing about it. Losing that reason makes every later revision harder.

The Studio’s central bet is continuity of understanding. A character explored in one part of the story is the same person in another. When you change a motive, the work should reveal which scenes deserve another look. It should explain the consequence and let you decide whether to revise the pages.

Your choice
She stays because she believes her father is on the last train.
The reason it matters
Leaving would protect her job but abandon the possibility of seeing him.
A later revision
If she already knows he is not coming, this scene needs a different reason for staying. The earlier choice should be reconsidered rather than silently overwritten.

You remain the author

The planned collaboration supports speech, typed conversation and direct work with the material. Specialist perspectives serve your current task through that continuing conversation. You should not have to manage a roster of agents to make progress.

Suggestions are proposals. You choose what becomes true in the story, approve the direction of a scene, and decide what gets revised. A useful question or a discovered consequence is not permission to rewrite your screenplay.

This is a sustained writing process. Finishing means a complete screenplay you have read, revised and chosen to share.

What you can use today

The Studio has not been publicly released. No public price or release date has been announced. It is planned for Mac and Windows and will work with your own Codex or Claude Code account.

The Reading Room and First Principles are open now. Read film screenplays scene by scene, or explore the craft behind a character choice, a reveal or a scene. Reading requires no account. You can also use the practical guides below while developing a story in the tools you already have.

Questions before you begin

Can I download the Studio now?

The desktop Studio is coming soon. The public Reading Room, guides and First Principles are available now.

Do I need a complete outline first?

No. The intended experience lets you start with a fragment and develop it. Story Space, Characters, Outline and Scenes are different places to focus on the same story, not a mandatory sequence.

Does Screenplay.Company provide the AI account?

The Studio will work with your own Codex or Claude Code account. The public site has not announced Studio pricing.
