INT. HUNSFORD PARSONAGE - SITTING ROOM - EVENING

Rain on the window. ELIZABETH BENNET (20) sits alone, her sister’s letters open in her lap.

The bell. MR. DARCY (late 20s) is shown in. He asks after her health, sits, rises, and walks the length of the room.

She watches him. She does not help.

He stops in front of her chair.

DARCY

In vain have I struggled. It will not do.

She looks up. Her colour rises.

DARCY (CONT’D)

You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.

Elizabeth folds her sister’s letter, very slowly, and sets it aside. Then she stands.

Scene plan Before a word is written, the scene’s purpose is agreed. By you.

Nothing is rewritten without you.

Ideas arrive as possibilities, from you or from your collaborators. When you choose one, the Studio shows everything it touches, and why. Your pages change only when you say so.

D

In the grove at morning: Darcy’s letter, unopened.

What does Elizabeth do with it?

What it touches

Choose one. Until you do, all three stay possibilities, and nothing else in the story moves.

Every screenplay begins with a title page.

Put your name on yours. The candles burn down at Pemberley. Your story doesn’t.
