Kate’s van pulls away as snow falls. She goes up to the front door of a modest home and knocks.
Her MOM AND DAD, mid 50s and clearly traumatized by all of this, open the door.
KATE
(breaks down in tears)
Mom... Dad... I’m so glad to be
home...
But they don’t open the door.
KATE (CONT'D)
Open the door...
DAD
No politics. None.
KATE
What are you talking about?
MOM
Your Dad and I are for the jobs the
comet will provide.
DAD
The divisions in this country is
bad enough. We don’t want more of
it in our house.
